As President and founder of Metroplex Mortgage Services, Inc., I started the company as a one-man broker shop in 2001 and have grown to be a top ranked USDA Lender that is now licensed in Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas. During this time, I have been directly involved with origination systems, warehouse line management, regulatory compliance, developing policy and procedures, delegated approval process, broker to banker transitioning, agency approvals and re-certifications, multi-state licensing, loan officer compensation, employee agreements, wage and hour law compliance, along with various state and agency regulatory compliance audits.
Through being on the front lines of building a mortgage company from the ground up, this has provided me the critical first-hand experience to understand what other mortgage professionals are experiencing. This practical understanding, combined with being both an attorney and Certified Mortgage Banker®, has afforded me with the unique ability to understand the pressures and regulatory concerns facing mortgage bankers today.
While most attorneys may know the law, I have found it can be difficult for them to understand mortgage lending nuances and the various aspects that are involved in the process. However, because I already understand the mortgage process from beginning to end, this allows for a more in-depth legal analysis in the areas of in the areas of Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Broker to Banker Consulting, Loan Officer Compensation, Mortgage Loan Purchase Agreement (“MLPA”) negotiations, and a vast array of Mortgage Banker Advisory services.
I am thankful for the opportunity share relevant content which further helps to connect the mortgage banking and legal professions.
